Jason Grimsley would just go steal it anyway
Ooh, I don’t know. Good question.
Can’t find video of the whole 2-inning scene yet, but here’s the last part of it
Man, if you thought the OXY uniform patches were bad, those New York Presbyterian patches are huge.
I haven’t really noticed the OXYs (what a horrible name for a sponsor, btw) since the first couple of games…but damn those on the Mets jerseys are indeed obnoxiously large
Occidental Petroleum has been listed as Oxy for a real long time. Only recently did the name association become an issue. But it looks to the average dumbass like the Astros are being sponsored by OxyContin
Well, of course they are. They’re big cheaters, after all.
Oh I’m aware of the corporate name and history…I was just commenting on the total tone-deafness of having OXY splashed everywhere on the stadium and uni’s, for obvious reasons.
At least there’s not a Freeport-McMoRUN inning.
He was featured in ‘Actors who never got laid’
Is that like “Jewish Sports Heroes”?
The A’s are moving forward with their relocation to Las Vegas, having reached a deal to purchase a stadium site. They’ve released a statement making things all but official.
Rough day for the fans in Oakland. I mean, rougher than usual.
30000 seats??
Why bother with a retractable roof?
Because Vegas is the ideal temperature year round?
But it’s a dry heat, doncha know.
It fucking sucks for A’s fans but I’m not sure what else could happen. The A’s have been trying to get out of that dump of a stadium for over 20 years with no end in sight. Obviously, I’m not plugged into all the specifics, but from the outside, it doesn’t look like a new stadium in Oakland was coming at all. At least not in the next 5 years and probably not in the next 10. There has seemingly been no movement on that front for at least the last 3-5 years. A move was inevitable at this point. They had til the end of the year, per MLB, to have a deal either with Oakland or Vegas or lose revenue sharing.
A’s ownership is pretty fucking awful, cheap, tearing down good teams for no reason, ect. But it doesn’t seem like city leadership was willing to actually get a deal done. So the A’s are leaving. It’s sad, but I don’t know if there was any alternative, they can’t stay at that shithole forever.
Yep, it sucks. The A’s had a good looking plan for a new park and redevelopment in the surrounding area, and were kicking in a high portion of the funding, but they could never get the city/county to agree to pay for the roadwork, utilities, etc. that would make it feasible.
I’ve had a few good times in Vegas, but it’s far, far, far from my list of favorite places in the US. NFL and NBA make sense there, I’m not so sure about baseball.
It was a better proposal, to my very untrained eye, than most teams give to cities for new ballparks
From everything I’ve read, despite the A’s incompetence, it’s hard to argue they didn’t make a good faith effort to try to make something work in Oakland.
