Baseball Miscellany

Managers have been managing to the long season and series wins during the regular season for over 100 years. This rule is so stupid.

Yeah but position players routinely pitching is a recent phenomenon

The players and the clubs love the Manfred Man so it was never going away. Officially making it permanent hurts but I guess it’s good to get rid of the false hope that it might have been temporary. Still, fuck.

No opinion on the position player pitching rule. If the Astros are down 8 or up 10 or whatever, my feelings on that game aren’t going to be determined by whether David Hensley takes the mound.

In the past 5 seasons, the number of position players pitching has ballooned from about 1 per team per season to about 5 per team per season.

Players association was worried how it effected stats especially prearbitration results

Thanks Jim.

I won’t correct it. I’ll just leave it their for others to view.

I wood hate for them read you’re correction and be confused because my incorrect vocabulary choice was no longer they’re.

Edit: I’m sorry. That was pretty snarky of me. I’ll let it be now.

That’s why we have Yordan in the lineup.

So you are saying those balloons have a Cuban Missile crisis at hand.

That’s money right there

Well, we all know the yanks do blow…

It’s 8 runs if you are behind and 10 if you are ahead, regular innings, for position player pitching.

So, I get in the car and cut on MLB Radio and that POS Drellich comes on with Nitkowski and Spilbourg. I started to turn the channel but decided to listen to his crap. Mostly, that was a mistake, as he took the opportunity to ever so slightly say a couple of things relating to the buzzers and the 2022 title to try and leave the door open that things aren’t on the up and up. Fuck him! But I kept listening and at the end CJ asked him how Fiers was doing and how he felt about the book. Drellich said he had no idea where Fiers was or what he was doing or how he felt. Hasn’t talked to him since story broke. He went on to discuss further something that was new to me. I was always under the impression that Fiers picked up the phone and called Drellich and/or Rosenthal and told his story. Drellich said what happened is the opposite. He said he and Rosenthal had the story and had been working on it for 13 months! They were about to publish and wanted to find someone who would go on record before it broke. Rosenthal calls Fiers, lays out all their evidence and asks Mike would he like to comment. Fiers initially declines, but then changes his mind.

If that was known before I guess I missed that. It doesn’t change my feelings per se about Fiers or the whole story, but it does make me wonder what happened 13 months prior to make Drellich and Rosenthal start digging into just the Astros. I’m assuming someone in that dugout or front office dropped a dime. I’m not gonna lose any sleep over it, but I do wonder who that was.

Fuck them all.

Drellich especially. He’s enjoying all of this.

I love that the Astros are still living rent free in the Yankees’ and Dodgers’ heads since 2017. Don’t get me wrong, the World Series victory last year was great. However, the sweeping of the Yankees was nearly as satisfying to me.

He’s profiting off this.
