Medical Science has come a long way since the late 90s/early 2000’s.
It’s only the 3rd time he’s wrecked his shoulder.
We’re back to leeches
I wondered if you would weigh in on this. Your shoulder issue seems similar if not identical to Tatis’ issue.
The Twitter account @BadMedicalTakes may convince you otherwise.
This is mesmerizing. Look at how the ball tracks right and left due to the blades of grass laying in opposite directions. Heck, look at the poor CF’s route he has to take to the ball.
That’s pretty fascinating, IMO.
Now I’m down a baseball rabbit hole during lunchtime. Next up is this FANTASTIC interview that Friedman (Pitching Ninja) has with Yu Darvish describing his 11 pitch grips, motions and movements. Great tutorial on each:
His descriptions of throttling the soft cutter with thumb placement and changing vertical and horizontal motion starting at 15:00 is fantastic.
Oh, please find something.
Oh wow. Even an “inconclusive” finding would completely derail him on twitter.
They’re gonna find traces of asshole all over that thing.
Mixed with smarm.
So after talking a bit about Bauer and the foreign substance thing last time, I decided to dig around on baseball savant.
Bauer had previously stated that he knew he could increase his spin rate by about 200-300 RPM with banned substances and proved it by doing it for one inning back in 2018. He definitely was doing it last season, of that I have no doubt.
His 4-seam and cutter jumped up by about 250 RPMs from 19 to 20, 2412<2776 and 2640<2908
His slider went from 2736 to 2951
Curve and sinker really jumped though, 2549<2926 and 2353<2795!
These are massive jumps, now his spin rate has gone up nearly every year but the jumps have been small, 50 here 100 there. If MLB was going to crack down on banned substances, Bauer is the guy to do it with, because it’s pretty blatant if a guy like me who only dables in this stuff can see it so clearly.
After Olney said that Bauer was being smeared if they were just going after him, Ashley McHugh stepped in:
Collin McHugh sort of won the wife lottery.
Going after Bauer and making an example of him will just make Bauer the posterboy for a league wide issue in the same way that the Astros were singled out for a league wide issue because of Mike Fiers. I have no doubt that they are going to actually do this, but its fucking rich because Bauers whole thing to start with, was complaining about people using these substances.
While I agree with what you’re saying, MLB should absolutely not scapegoat a single player or team for a league wide issue… fuck Trevor Bauer, he made his bed of shit, now he gets lay in it
Bauer should be punishment number 1 and whoever else is doctoring balls against the rules should be 2 through whatever.
But yes, particularly fuck Trevor Bauer.
I would love to see an example made out of Tyler Bauer
Yes, this. If you want it out of the game, and you say you do, then do it. Don’t half ass it and say but look what we did to Bauer, it’s fixed now.
