I think Tumpane is decent.
(He’s the ump who talked the lady safely off the bridge in Pittsburgh a few years ago).
How do the OF umps work into the rotation from game to game?
I.e. 1BU gets HP duties the next game, 2BU moves over to 1B etc.

Tumpane is a decent HPU, but not anything to write home about.
I like him a lot as a person, and yes, he’s the one that talked the lady down.
If you look at the chart it shows which ump is which behind the plate, so you can see the rotation.
The rotation (based on the positions for game one) is - HPU > 1B > 2B > 3B > LF RF ump game one doesn’t get a turn since there are 6 umps and 5 games.
So Tumpane gets game 5 if needed.

I’m completely with you. It’s all been so much fun, and I’m excited to be going to the game tomorrow, but it’s just as nerve-wracking as it’s always been. I’ve had a pervading October anxiety all day.
But to me it’s awfully different after '17 and '22. Nerve-wracking, but not the sword of Damocles of the 80s, 90s, and 00s.

Part of it is knowing that these runs don’t last forever, and the Astros’ current one has lasted way longer than most. It’s a special time, that i don’t want to end, but I know that someday it will.

I think that one of the things that’s made it even more special is the fact that the age of baseball dynasties created by massive fiscal inequities is largely over, and that the Astros have been able to sustain excellence in a time of relative parity in the league.

I’m not a huge fan of Will Little, but compared to the other two he’s Enrico Palazzo.

Diaz, of course, but having Singleton on the roster does not eliminate Diaz as a pinch hitter.
With only 12 pitchers, you have an extra spot for a guy, who if even gets in a game means things have gone down the shitter already. I don’t see who that guy is as a major concern or roster blunder.

I think so, at least this year. Hopefully that doesn’t throw JV off his game.
