Another airplane collision, this time just outside
hometown. Sadly, AP is reporting two people dead:
Not to belittle the loss in that accident, but small aircraft accidents happen much more frequently than with commercial airlines (see Hooverâs âPilot Debriefâ YT channel). I think this is hitting the news now because of the sudden uptick in commercial accidents in the U.S. so any plane crash is news.
'Terfs gotta 'Terf.
I just canât with these fuckwits.
Next time Iâm on a plane, and I feel we start to veer to the left or right, Iâm gonna yell to the cockpitâŚâHey!..Back in a straight line there, buddy! Youâre not taking me on the âscenic routeâ!â
In their defense, they do think the earth is flat.
HA!
One of the worst âscenic routesâ is going into Love Field.
The newly minted/renamed approach control for DFW and Love Field, âLone Star Approachâ (it used to be Regional Approach) takes us alllllllllll the way around the metroplex to land at Love.
Itâs ridiculous flying low around all the fucking south oklahoma airports in the metroplex amongst lots of general aviation aircraft at times.
Ugh.
A couple of near misses yesterday.

I noticed this the last time I had a layover at Love. It was crazy.
You have to taxi almost that same distance at DFW.
If the earth were really round, it would just turn underneath you and you wouldnât have to fly in a circle. Scoreboard FLERF!!
I once told a flat earther that one time I went to the guardrail at the edge of the end of the earth. He called me, a liar!
I love Australia:
Clark, a former professional boxer and sheep shearer
Autocorrect doing Godâs work with the word âshearerâ.
Youâre confusing Australians with the dodgy kiwis and youâre Welsh cousins.
Hey, all, hope itâs ok, but Iâm posting this in hopes of spreading the message and getting the word out/promoting a fantastic organization one of my SWA Captains/copiilots/cohearts helped establish to advance the next generation of aviators in this country.
Donations and support are greatly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.
Oh, and fly Southwest Airlines.
Letâs go Astros.
Hoover discusses todayâs NTSB update on the DC collision:
Basically, the fact that this hadnât before now is blind luck. The number of near misses - as defined by the automated collision warning system recommending evasive action - averaged one a month for that last 12 years.
Also, even if the Black Hawk had flown the route perfectly, there would have been only 75 feet of vertical separation. In this case, the BH was 78 feet above routeâs ceiling.
The NTSB seems to be laying this at the feet of the FAA, and its failure to react to a long term, oft-recurring near miss issue.
If they were at the wrong/incorrect altitude, that sounds like an incorrect altimeter setting on their part.
There were 15,000 near misses there 2021-24
