That would make sense, if he’s flying open then he wouldn’t have control nor would he have the same ride on the fastball

Let’s climb back into this

You’re right and I apologize for suggesting it. I think Javier is struggling to consistently repeat his delivery for whatever reason.

I can’t imagine it’s just that he’s flying open. This has been going on for a month plus, there’s got to be a reason WHY he’s flying open.

100% theres an underlying reason for it but it mechanically makes sense and something that I didn’t notice

If it was that simple, you would think Miller and Murphy would have seen the flying open issue and fixed it in two months.

Maldy gets another back.

Nice answer fellas!

Maldy just seems to get some real key hits at times. Unreliable though

Gotta be all that usage last year plus having ace stuff in the first month… Or he’s tipping.

I am 100% ok with the bottom of the order doing some shit that inning.

Now hold it down on the mound.

Tipping has nothing to do with the lack of command he started displaying in June.

You cannot tip pitches that are either breaking balls 12 inches off the plate or fastballs over the middle.

I really thought Javy had turned a corner last start

I thought the same when he got out of the basea loaded, no outs jam in the fourth inning.

Javier was very fortunate on that slider to Bauers, but I’ll take it.

Haven’t been watching the game (other than gamecast) - so this is a good point. If command ain’t there, then tipping is irrelevant. I just wonder how they are making much more contact than last year and starting from there. I’ll just sit my Clark ass down and watch the thread.

Javier’s struggles began in a home start against the Mets in June where he was way off with his command. It bled into his next two starts against the Cardinals and that crazy Monday game in Arlington against the Rangers. He wasn’t just missing, he was missing badly.

Because his slider that doesn’t bounce is center cut.

So you can sit on the start-high slider and spit on the start center slider, or just hunt fastballs.

Pitch count - 71 thru 3 innings. Woo boy.
