Astros @ Yankees, 5/9/2024

Hope all is well. I am all too familiar with the ER lately.

I was not replying to you or to anyone in particular. That reply was to the ā€œDFA Singletonā€ sentiment which was often expressed here.

I do not think one question is an inquisition, but that is a big word so maybe I do not know its meaning.

Hope all is well. Dehydration takes it toll on everyone, but the elderly are especially vulnerable.

At the time the sentiment of DFAing Singleton was based on his poor start to the season. I’ve always liked the guy and root for him and he has turned things around in a big way. I really hope he can continue to play well going forward.

His dinger yesterday was great fun, but that pick in the 9th was so important too.

Had to have it

I’ve mentioned before, but Singleton is a very good glove man at 1B.

It was, but Singleton’s recent success shows how hard it is to produce when you don’t get consistent at bats. It’s easier to get your timing down when you regularly see pitchers.

Same thing with pitchers, especially in the bullpen. Without regular work, they just aren’t going to be as good. See Pressly, Ryan.

Also see Abreu, Bryan, and Hader, Josh.

From the Athletic: 5 of the 6 hardest hit HR in the league were in this series.

I’m guessing Singleton’s bomb was tops?

No, Stanton was 119.9

Trevino’s popup to left with 1 out in the 9th generated the hardest yard cry though.

Found an old batch of those Aaron Judge balls.

Even if it wasn’t, I’m sure they’d tell us it was.

Astros win! Yes!!!

Singleton’s 115.4mph shot was not even the tops in the game. It was #3. Judge’s bomb off of Pressley was 115.7mph and Alvarez’ mash was 116.8mph. Just a crush-fest.

Singleton might have been 3rd. What were the numbers on Judge’s LCF shot?

ETA: Das, as usual, anticipated my very thought.
