I tend to agree with you Jim. I know for the most part Pressly has gotten the job done, but to me, he just doesn’t look as effective as in prior seasons. His stuff isn’t as dominant.
Baker is deeply conservative. He sticks with Bregman. He sticks with Yuli. Sooner or later he expects them to turn it around, and as long as they’re in first, that’s ok. He’ll stay with Pressly, and the outcome of this series, as painful as it may be for fans, won’t change the bullpen.
His lack of fastball command lately is the big problem. Since being an Astro, he’s always been able to command both his fastball and slider. He’s had some bad misses with his fastball, recently.
The difference between a runner on 2nd and 2 outs and on 3rd with 2 outs and minor enough that yeah, probably would have been the right call. I like Stanek better against lefties anyway. But Pressly doesn’t even have a dick anymore with how much he stomped on it tonight
Fuck Pressly. Its one thing to get knocked around. Its another to walk a guy who’s 2 for his last 30something then bounce a 3-2 pitch that HAS to be close to the first two hitters you’re facing when you’re closing. Absolute pants shit by him.
I completely agree that it never should have gotten to the point that Judge could win the game with a single. Pressly shit the bed. All I was saying is the way Aaron Judge is hitting this season, I’m not giving in 3-0 unless I have to or the situation calls for it.
The only thing good about tonight, and I know I am a coach looking for something positive, is the Yankees right now are the class of MLB, and the Astros demonstrated they can play with NYY.
The Astros gave this game away, not a heroic rally by the Yankees.
