Astros/Rockets direct to consumer

SCHN+ has been announced, if you have cable just for Astros games, you can now cancel. For me, as soon as football ends, Fubo can fucking get lost

Saw elsewhere that it’s limited to 150 miles from Houston, but the actual service area is very unclear at this point.

FINALLY

That… would be very disappointing for me living in Fort Worth

Same here, I’m 200mi from Downtown.

It’s one small step in the right direction though.

According to the chron, all of Texas is included

Surprised they’re not on Roku at launch – hopefully that’s coming shortly.

I would assume the area would include all of the Astros’ normal defined broadcast area, those areas not available via MLB.TV.

That was my assumption as well

Guy on clutchfans posted that during signup it said something about being <150mi from Houston in order for the app to work, so that’s what I was going off

eta: However, this is kind of a dealbreaker:

Guess it doesn’t help me in Idaho, lol

You get MLB.tv! It’s the Texas folks who were stuck paying for cable/fubo, quite perversely.

You still get Astros games cheaper than we do, the gap is just closing a bit

Exactly. If you are in Idaho, you have much better options.

I may finally kick MLB.TV to the curb this year. I had it primarily for when I was traveling overseas a lot, and it was great. I’m stuck out here in Midland, America now, so its usefulness is not as great. This sounds like a much better option, especially considering it will not cost me extra, having it on my DirecTV plan and all.

I watch exactly two things on Fubo, Astros games and football. So this service in the summer and fubo during football season will save me around like $600 a year. I still get mlb.tv every year also just so I can have baseball on at all times and will continue to do so

Yes actually.

Its not perfect. Games vs the Mariners are blacked out, and all the stupid Amazon, Roku, etc but its better than I had for many years.

And its my son’s account so its free.

Switch to T-Mobile and you’ll get mlb.tv for free. And free international roaming.

I’m blacked out for Rockies games.

Do you know if the Turdinals/Chisox/FTC will affect you?

The T mobile deal really is pretty awesome.

Its the only T Mobile Tuesday deal I ever use. Every spring I anxiously wait for it to drop.

Similar to RFTL.

Northern California, which means I’m rather appreciative of my brother’s T-Mobile (nee Voicestream Wireless) MLB.tv account, and also subject to black outs by Giants and West Sacramento Baseball Team’s games. Could be a helluva lot worse.
