If you want to be angrier, look at Yuli’s at bat in the same inning.
As this season winds down, we need to go to that account that rates the umpires’ games and has the +/- on scoring influence. I’m quite confident that it will show that the Astros are far in the “lead” for negative scores, and somebody with some guts ought to confront Manfred and ask him what he intends to do about it.
He intends to keep rooting for the Yankees and the Dodgers.
Why didn’t Dusty complain?
with Boston and any team from Chicago being “ok” too. It’s all about the commerce with Manfred.
I wish we all knew. It makes no sense why Dusty refuses to give umpires a piece of his mind after they repeatedly screw his players with terrible calls. Sticking up for your players is part of the job.
He should have been barking after the 3-0 and 3-1 calls to Yuli and got run after Diaz struck out looking on a ball well outside. He also should have barked some at Joe West for the way West handled Altuve trying to replace a broken bat earlier in the game.
I don’t expect him to channel Earl Weaver when this stuff happens.
But enough chirping that the HPU looks over there and says ‘enough’ would be good to see. At least once.
I’d like to see him get run once in awhile. The ninth inning today was a situation where it was called for. The game against the Orioles where Strom got run after Garcia was getting hosed by Bucknor in the first inning was another.
He’s got his record, can he just retire now?
