Straw caught stealing by 8 ft. Never even got to 2B

Did anyone else see that coming?

You rarely see a big leaguer thrown out by that much.

I meant the steal. He has been running all night. after the 12 foot slide earlier, I just felt like it was coming.

Paredes mows em down one the 8th

We head to the 9th, Astros chasing a run

Altuve flies out at the wall. Damn

Correa lines out 1,000 mph at the wall.

Fuck! Don’t hit em much harder

Nevermind

Reddick…full count…walks

Tying run reaches, Toro represents the go-ahead run

What is Yuli doing sitting on the bench?

Why no Yuli?

Been wondering that all fucking night

Too many blown chances in the first 2 innings. Should have been a win.

Yeah, that too.

Toro…full count…bounces out 4-3

Astros go down having left 11 guys on base and striking out 13 times.

That’s on Baker. You’re already down your two best hitters, so you decide to sit one of your best middle of the order RBI guys in favor of Reddick (5 LOB), Toro (5 LOB) and Jones (6 LOB). That’s 16 individual LOB right in the heart of your order. Brutal.

Apparently so:

“You never want to sacrifice a game, but you’d rather sacrifice a game than hit a sore Yuli and he has to beat out a double play or something, then he ends up pulling something,” Baker said. “We got enough guys on the injured list and certainly can’t afford anymore.”

IMHO Baker is the perfect manager for the 2020 Astros season.

This isn’t the second week of June. You’re heading into September, a few weeks let in the season, and you’re trying to stay in a division race. You’re already down your best hitters, but you’re trying to stay in this race. You can’t sit your best available guys because you’re worried they might get hurt too. That’s just giving up. Th Astros were on a hot streak, and Dusty just threw a bucket of ice water on them.

IF Gurriel’s legs were sore, he already is hurt. It would be nice to hear from Yuli about his physical condition. I understand not wanting to risk aggravating any soreness. Focusing on Baker and on this one decision gives the guys who played and who did not deliver with runners on an unwarranted free pass, imo.
