You canât just put a guy on the IL if he isnât injured, and I imagine there are stiff penalties if you get caught trying to game the system. So your two options are bench him and basically play a man down, or DFA him. It may yet come down to DFA, but I can understand why theyâre trying to let him find his way before doing that.
