He was fun
Interesting, smart guy is Noe. We were good friends while he was here and watched games together with other TZ denizens back in the day. Dunno why he quit posting, but he was one of the intelligent baseball fan posters who went away. Zipp, Alkie, gleach, and Taras are four others I wish were still posting regularly here. I miss some others, too, whose TZ names have drifted off into the mist.
I think most just got busy doing other thingsā¦marriage, kids, new careers, retirement, etc. Many of you may remember the poster who went by simply āHoustonā. Heās a true gentleman and scholar, and heās turned his time the last couple of years to writing several books on his familyās history. Heās still a great Astros fan, however.
I miss seeing Jim strolling about NW Hills wearing his Cubs jersey with a lovely floral sarong. Donāt know about the others but Taras runs a bait stand behind a Fina station in Port Lavaca. Heāll give you a helluva deal on croakers.
Mark and I saw him in person a couple of years ago, and I bought and read Book #1.
This may be Fletcher (Taras) using a different name. We were neighbors in NW Hills for a time, and I think he may have moved to Fredericksburg.
Iāve been to his stand. He didnāt recognize me but his bait is fresh.
I read his first one, even got an autographed copy. Have not yet read his second, which came out just a few weeks ago, but will soon.
I think āFletcherā was his pseudonym. His real name is offensive in several languages.
He did not say so, but I bought the lovely sarong at his garage sale.
His drivers license says Robert Fletcher, but I think it was provided to him by the CIA.
What happened to Fredia? She hasnāt posted in quite some time.
Speaking of books, Capps has one out now titled āGrinders.ā Short chapters about players who persevered through adversity, bad breaks, and bad luck on the way to MLB. Some of his subjects you no doubt have heard of, but I suspect there are several you have not. It also is Mikeās second book, and I recommend it to you.
āI hate that rule you can pitch a position player,ā White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. āThereās got to be a way to avoid that at some point when you get far down. I think itās a travesty for the game. I donāt think fans enjoy it."
Then do not tell him to pitch, Tony. You control who pitches.
No no, the guy sitting in the 2nd row next to the dugout is calling the shots these days.
He blacked out and forgot he did that
Ha!
The āthere has to be a way!ā is some of the most LaRussa-iest shit Iāve heard.
Tony La Russa makes Dusty Baker look competent as an in-game tactician.
