Astros @ Cards, 6/29/23

Add-On-Ball is Fun

You never give away at bats. Ever.

Somebody is going to get drilled at some point down the road.

For what? Thatā€™s the guy you ran out there to take a beating.

Itā€™s not like theyā€™re clowning around the bases or anythingā€¦you canā€™t blame hitters for hitting meat.

Burleson is the Cardsā€™ designated whip-on pitcher

18 hits now ā€¦

Not funny.

To the bottom of the 9thā€¦14-0 Astros

I guess Dusty doesnā€™t agree, but I would not send Montero back out. He had a nice, quick inning, pat him on the back and let him build on it.

Thatā€™s a winner.

All Astrosā€¦14-0

Best thing about this game, by far, was Montero.

Did TK really drop a ā€œground ball, right side, this should do itā€ there?

I mean, obviously, the Cards had already given up, but he threw strikes, which is not exactly what heā€™d been doing.

Advantage of sending Montero out for the 9th is that now everybody else in the pen should be ready for the Rangers.

Offensive French Montero

I get that. And a second good inning is even better. I just worried what if he walked a couple guys? Gave up a home run? Hindsight and all that.

Yeah, it could have blown up and undone the confidence gained in the 8th. It was a gamble, but it worked.

Reminds me of something I saw - Spike Lee and Rudy T were on the floor of the Garden before a game, 2000 or so, and Spikeā€™s spinning some theory about how if Knicks player X had blocked this shot or made that shot or whatever it was, that would have completely changed the complexion of the series. Rudy let it all sink in for a second and said, Well, he didnā€™t.

Does 2 straight wins count as a streak?
