Astros at White Socks, May 14, 2023

Consider the source. He has nary a clue.

TY, das, for providing the rule!

  1. I’m just a fan; love the game, but have never claimed to be a baseball expert.
  2. To this fan, most TV announcers
  • don’t appear to question the strike zone graphic,
  • but rather, most of the time, question calls by the comparing pitch location to the strike zone graphic.
  1. To my eyes, if I understand the rule, the pitch (in the 2nd pic) appears to be closer to the player’s shoulders than the top of his uniform pants - NOT at the midpoint.

Willing to learn.
Much obliged.
Snuff

Rainer’s HR (1:02:25) silent treatment was shared by the ChiSox announcers during McCormick’s AB (between 1:03:35 and 1:04:18).

Bet it makes the rounds - a perfect example of what makes the Astros special: celebrating even while struggling, keeping their balance.

TY, das, for providing the rule AND the pic.

(Just checked, if I’m reading it correctly…) According to the Ump Scorecard, Tripp Gibson had trouble w/ THREE calls - all favoring KC over Milwaukee - including two high pitches during the game, (pitch #2 & pitch #3 should have been called a ball). Pitch #3 was the 3rd strike on Weimer from Grienki in the 5th.

You helped me learn how to find the ump scorecard.
Much obliged!

Mount Ranier or Prince Ranier?

Ranier Beer?
