I agree about Chas starting but Dubon is an above average utility player.

I typed that wrong.

What I meant is that Dubon is an average MLB player who is a utility player rather than a guy with a single position.

As far as utility players go, I would agree he is above average.

But as a starter for a contending team he isnā€™t.

Since August 1st:

Chas: .282 .353 .485 .839 26GS, 116 PA

Dubon: .324 .370 .554 .925 16GS, 81 PA

I think it is important to note that Dusty was not going to play either Alvarez nor Brantley in LF on the turf in Arlington following Alvarezā€™s warning track scare Sunday night and Brantley just returning from a year-long absence.

Therefore, with Diaz catching France. someone on the bench was going to start in the outfield. Dubon was the best of those options.

I canā€™t argue with the results.

But Dubon sure does not look natural playing CF.

And with a LHSP, the numbers say Meyers was more likely to have a good game.

No doubt Dubon has helped this team and had some excellent games.

Iā€™m very glad he was there yesterday. Dusty got one right. Lucky.

I hope it happens again and again.

A Prince Among Men, you.

But, the numbers do not suggest Meyers would have performed better than Dubon vs LHP.

Before yesterdayā€™s game, Dubon was hitting .323 (30/93) with a .364 OBP and a .430 SLG. Meyers was at .269/.355/463.

In August, Dubon hit .339/.394/.525 in 59 at bats. Meyers hit .222/.250/.389 in 54 at bats.

I would agree with this offensively because Dubon has been good.

I still think that Meyers is the better defender and they are very close to equal hitters.

I also think Dubon is over his head now while Meyers could still improve if given the chance. He is also a better baserunner

But play the hot hand. I agree with Dubon in that regard.
