I get that solar reduces your electric bill. But you seem to be immune to the major upfront capital expense. That’s simply not reality for the vast majority of people.

It’s not my personal experience. It’s the reality for the vast majority of people out there. There’s a huge difference for most people. I find your statement that if one can afford an emergency generator they are easily in scope for a system that costs 3-4 times as much detached from reality, especially if it’s specifically to address the occasional extended power outage. We agree that if your goal is a long term upgrade investment it’s a different situation.
NOT EVERYONE HAS THE DESIRE NOR THE FINANCIAL FLEXIBILITY TO GO $13,000 IN DEBT BECAUSE THEY NEED TO POWER THEIR REFRIGERATOR AND ROUTER FOR A FEW DAYS A DECADE.
