A 20-year shitshow coming to an end. Hopefully first order of business for new ownership will be ending that whole LAAA nonsense…
Meh.
Having had to once live among silly halos fans, if that glorified AAA franchise that identifies itself with whichever fucking OC city they can think of continues to wallow in mediocrity, I won’t be upset.
They’ve been a model franchise under Moreno as far as I’m concerned. Their free agent spending keeps good players off better teams, but despite the spending they haven’t threatened the Astros’ dominance.
A new owner might pull a Crane and inject some competence into the organization. I don’t like the sound of that.
An uber driver today told me that if he picks up a ride headed to Santa Ana he turns off his call notifications within five minutes of the city line so he won’t have to pick up any rides in that town.
Santa Ana isn’t that bad these days.
OC is still, well, OC.
Too soon?
“Articles” like that are amusing, at best, to me. If you are going to dream up fantasy/potential trade scenarios like @toddthebod, you might as well use actual intel to do so. Yeah, Trout might like to come to a winning team. Yeah, the Astros need a solid CF’er. The author (opinionist?) is missing the main attractor. He’s a dedicated christian and that existent ethos on the Astros is a big draw for like-minded players.
I’m amazed by every word of this. All true? I’ve never heard anything of the sort—not that I would have, it’s just interesting. Are the Astros a particularly churchy bunch? Is Trout?
This is too logical Roberto Clemente was baseball’s best kept secret until he was unveiled in 1971. Mike Trout has been cloistered in the city of angels and needs a conversion
I was a newspaper editor for a few years. This article falls into the category of “I had a deadline but I fucked around and didn’t find any real news to write about, so here’s some bullshit I faked up.”
Trout 100%. It’s pretty common knowledge. He’s a big weather nerd too so that’s a plus in my book as well.
Re: the Astros, I’ve seen a number of articles about the players and their faith. Some around Faith Night promos but others on Christian media. Altuve, Gurriel, Framber, McCullers, previously Correa, Gonzales, Rasmus, etc… Mancini is well known in the community, speaking at Youth for Christ events and such.

He’s making about $37 million, and salaries are coming off the books. He would be Roy Hobbs in every ab at Minute maid and fill a void, nearly literally
Unless the Angels are taking on a large chunk of that salary, I’d steer clear. As much as having Mike Trout on the Astros would be fun, and Angels fans having to watch Trout on a good team in their own division would be incredible. That’s a lot of money for a lot of years for a guy that has already had 5 years of injury issues
Today maybe it’s about the “likes” ?
Exactly. The contract is a huge issue and probably why the Angels would even entertain moving him.
Don’t forget about Bregman. My sense is that it’s a close knit fun loving bunch that for a clubhouse actually end of having interesting and personally meaningful conversations.
“for a clubhouse???”
Trout is great, but his health would worry me. Played in just 36 games in 2021. And just 83 of the 125 so far this year.
