I’m not as big on “protection” as some, but part of Peña’s problem is pitchers know that if he’s hitting seventh, there’s no risk in throwing him slop. Plus there needs to be some consistency in the lineup. Plus Bregman doesn’t need to be a table setter, he needs to drive in runs. He need to be hitting in an RBI spot.

We need to get past this idea that Brantley is part of this team. He’s as relevant to the lineup as Moises Alou.

That’s kinda my point.

Well, he’s not the team’s #2 hitter any more than Babe Ruth is the cleanup man. Thats not an excuse for Dusty to butcher the lineup day to day.

Babe’s bat speed has really slowed.

I think I would start the lineup:
vs LHSP
Altuve
Pena
Yordan
Tucker
Chas
Bregman

Pena has shown what he can do ahead of Yordan when pitchers have to be careful of walking him so can’t throw slow lowcand outside.

Chas is great vs LHP so protects Yordan and Tucker and punishes managers who bring in Lefty relievers to face them. Bregman is much better vs RHP.

vs RHP
Altuve
Bregman
Yordan
Tucker

Bregman is great vs RHP and his on base skills will help set the table. The protection Yordan gives Pena’s isn’t as effective due to Jeremy’s lack of production vs RHP.
