Sorry, but I couldn’t give a single fuck less about stupid ass Phil Maton at this point. If you’re dumb enough to break your pitching hand punching your locker after a meaningless at bat in a meaningless game after your team’s ticket to the playoffs was punched, you got what you deserved.
If Maton’s stupidity paved the way for Hensley to be on the roster that worked out pretty well.
Wrong thread, I know, but I wonder if Click will spare us from tempting Dusty with Smith in the ALCS.
MarkR, your bedside manner may need a little polish…
Who hasn’t screwed up.
Some people need tough love.
Everyone has screwed up plenty of times.
However, if I did something completely within my control to prevent me from doing the job I got paid a ridiculous amount of money to do, I’d fully expect to be fired for it. Being part of a team means making smart decisions to not hurt said team.
Fucking. Stupid.
The BP - esp w/ Garcia and Urquidy - handled 18 innings perfectly, and Hensley has apparently been schooled by Correa on his ABs.
I think it’s pretty clear that Maton did the team a favor.
Never suggested his pain wasn’t self-inflicted.
That makes it WORSE.
I believe the broadcasters mentioned one pitcher in Game 4 (Yanks-Cleveland) hurt his hand hitting the ground.
I think his beside manner is just fine. Maybe you mean his bedside? I don’t really want to imagine anybody here polishing anything in, on or around their bedside but that’s just me
Good catch.
Thanks.
A click of the match up link will reveal a Phil Maton smile. A good interview, contrasting the two personalities.
I completely disagree.
Who is Phil Paton, you fucking goofball?
It’s Maton with a fake stache
He’s the multiverse Phil that didn’t selfishly, stupidly, punch his locker in a childish temper tantrum.
Or philper patrom, if you prefer.
To his credit, Maton said all those things about himself in the interview I saw.
He definitely said all the right things after. Still was a really, really, REALLY dumb decision in the moment.
I’d make him watch Bull Durham every day until next Spring Training to make sure he never makes that mistake again.
Jokes on you, that was his evil twin Bill Baton giving the interview.
Is this a punishment?
Can you think of a better way to drive home never punch with your pitching hand?
Agreed 100%
