I do remember that as being the reason but 4 months later priorities change.
I would expect that the team would rather have the best players on the roster for the stretch run, especially since they are trying to win the division and get best record and have legitimate World Series shot.
That is unless one of them are traded. That would answer that…
I would think development over winning in April is an acceptable philosophy
Is the difference between Toro once a week and Garcia once a week gonna make any meaningful difference? To me, no it’s not. Also if Toro is gonna be one of your potential trade pieces then you will need Garcia, at least until Bregman is back
This assumes Baker remember 1) that they will be playing NL teams in NL parks using their rules and 2) he remembers that the game is played a bit differently in those circumstances.
Diaz would slot into what Toro does now and likely start nearly every game at 3B. If he gets hurt, as he seems likely to do, then Toro comes right back up. You have a much higher opinion of Toro right now than I do I guess. He’s fine and yes a better player than Garcia but Garcia is also much more versatile.
There’s nothing he could do about the broken hand or any of the other injuries he’s had since he’s been here. Just seems like a safer bet to say he will spend more time on the IL than on the field with the years of data we have at this point, that he just doesn’t stay healthy
I have no problem with any of those rules, and I often am known to use slight profanity. I happen to think, however, because Pollyanna is my middle name, no major league ball player is fucking worthless. Except Tyler Bauer, of course.
I was just giving you shit, Lefty. I know you secretly love Robel.
