Soreness in right triceps, per Dusty Baker
Chandler Rome pointed out that tricep soreness cost Verlander two months of his 2015 season.
Disaster looms, I am afraid.
Verlander might be in better physical shape than he was in 2015, so thereâs that. But heâs also five years older.
The sound on this is a little sickening.
Rangers Outfielder Willie Calhoun Hit in the Face with 95 MPH Fastball
I may have to self-quarantine.
Alvarez still missing from the lineup today. That puts it right at a week.
And right on cue, Chandler Rome posts this article:
From Chandler Rome: Verlander had an MRI this morning. Results expected soon. Verlander doesnât seem too worried about it, says Dusty Baker. Doesnât feel nearly as bad as it did in 2015.
Dusty says Alvarez is participating in all baseball activities today and should be back in the lineup on Wednesday.
Shades of Tony Cloninger.
Iâm trying to understand the Cloninger reference. Did he get hit by pitch in the face or did he famously hit someone else?
Conigliaro, Bob
That famous âafterâ photo is seared in my brain.
The Deshields Jr one as an Astros farmhand was gruesome as well.
Press conference at 1 PM. Click speaking, then Verlander. That doesnât bode well.
Mild lat strain. Shut down, opening day status TBD.
Wonderful.
Mild lat strain, instead of triceps, or both? I suppose the lat only scenario is best?
JV: âIt would take a miracle for me to be back by Opening Day.â
Ah, Tony Conigliaro.
