Aches and Pains 2020

He said he felt it give during the simulated game.

A retirement spent with Kate Upton, the horror

just another 2020 anomoly

Remember that Lanceā€™s elbow popped in September 2018. He finished throwing from the pen knowing heā€™d have TJS in the offseason.

Iā€™m sure JV was trying to do something similar.

Thatā€™s exactly it. Whether he had it then, or now, he was missing next season regardless.

He left on bad terms, but I donā€™t like seeing this. FRM:

My scout friend predicted arm trouble for him and McCullers years ago because of a recoil delivery.

Handsome Jake on the shelf.

This was interesting:

When Giles was aquired from the Astros on July 30, 2018, he brought with him the reputation as a hothead. Over two-plus seasons with Toronto, Giles emerged as a leader on whom younger pitchers leaned, even while he rehabbed. Giles also seemed comfortable, a shift that was noticeable entering the 2019 season when he ā€œcame out of his shellā€ to accept more help with his mental game after being a ā€œlone wolf,ā€ as he put it, earlier in his career.

ā€œHe was a great clubhouse leader. He was awesome. I love the guy,ā€ Montoyo said. ā€œWhen he was on the mound, when he was healthy, he was one of the best relievers in baseball. In the clubhouse, he was great with everybody. He was a great teammate. I donā€™t think people realize that about him.ā€

Sounds like Jake was hurt most of the ā€œseason.ā€ Sure, re Giles.

People poo poo it, but Iā€™m a firm believer in the power of a change of scenery. Especially as people grow and develop. A lot of times you donā€™t realize just how much you know about something until you start over in a new place.

Houston was a new place for Giles. I am less than completely convinced he did a 180 from the guy who punched himself in the face.

People grow. Especially after things donā€™t work out terribly well in a new place.

Is this supposed to imply COVID? Anyways, it sucks as he had been good lately.

Iā€™m pretty sure every time itā€™s been ā€œundisclosed reasonsā€ itā€™s been covid. That said, the game is still scheduled, so if it was covid, Iā€™m sure the game would have bene postponed by now. Who knows?

Maybe came into contact with someone, but not actually testing positive. So far (fingers crossed).

Jamesā€™s place is in the pen. He has been an asset there. His troubles came when pressed into being a starter, and he just didnt work out in that role.

So, my understanding of the current rule is that if the games were postponed, the Astros would make the playoffs since their win % would beat any possible Seattle or LAA win %, but the Astros might not be able to participate.

There must be some contingencies Iā€™m unaware of.

Best wishes to GP. You got this.
