A Republic, If You Can Keep It

I think you underestimate the amount of rat-fucking the G(ang)O(f)P(edophiles) in TX will engage in. I hope you’re right.

Threatening refugee Dems with unconstitutional cross-border arrests, non-existent felonies and having their seats vacated sounds like they’ve already turned it up to 11.

Not sure if they have any more bullets to fire.

I suppose they could just appoint Republican replacements and wait to see if anyone can do anything about it.

Mike Flood is one of the few GOP House Reps who held an in-person town hall. He may be the last.

The entire event in his deep red district in deep red Nebraska was his constituents yelling at him.

“My question is fiscal.”

“Three Chords and the Truth” are not on the Republican set list.

To echo HH, the QOP is full on now ok with authoritarian white nationalist christo-fascism, hellbent on minority rule at any price.
Their levels of rat-fucking shouldn’t be underestimated, and giving a shit about “playing by the rules” went out the window eons ago with this human garbage.

Texas legislators can be removed by action of the house, or (possibly) by action of the governor with a 2/3rds vote of the senate. There are 31 senators, and 11 are Democrats.

If there is a vacancy in a legislative office, the constitution provides that the governor must call an election for replacement. It does not allow the governor to appoint a replacement.

I’d also note that it’s not the governor who decides to prosecute felonies, and presumably the prosecutions would have to be brought by the district attorneys in each jurisdiction where the democratic officer resides, or possibly in Travis County.

Of course I no longer practice law, and that could all be wrong.

Law-talkers, like airline pilots, are never wrong, Neil.
Trust me, I’m right.

I was reliably informed that lawyers are often wrong, but seldom in doubt.

The thing is we practically do have unlimited money.

We used to, until we decided to demonstrate to the world that holding our debt might not be as safe as it seemed.

Republicans know this better than anyone, they just pretend not to know it when there’s a Democrat in the White House.

Yet another.

Mike Flood is having an interesting time.

This. This. And more of this please.

And there it is.

During her nine hours speaking with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last month, Ghislaine Maxwell said nothing during the interview that would be harmful to President Donald Trump, telling Blanche that Trump had never done anything in her presence that would have caused concern, according to sources familiar with what Maxwell said.

Of course, what behavior “concerns” her compared to the rest of us is probably vastly different.

One of Trump’s accusers says that Maxwell restrained her while Trump raped her…when she was 13. Of the two women here, there is no contest as to credibility.

We’re all going to die.

We don’t need to hear from Maxwell. We need to hear more from her (and Epstein’s and Trump’s) victims.
