Yes, Padilla was appointed by Newsom initially to replace Kamala Harris when she became VP and then won reelection in 2022.
Levels upon levels upon levels. Noem lied, stating that he didn’t identify himself, as if that excuses what happened. But, of course, he did identify himself.
Now, Speaker Johnson says Padilla should be censured. Padilla.

Trump is apparently relenting on targeting ICE raids on farms and leisure/hospitality. He must have either had an epiphany that those industries can’t function without that labor, they bribed him, or he remembered they are simply a critical part of his base.
Anyways, I think it will be hard for the right-wing propaganda machine to limit this epiphany to only those two industries. Once you admit the obvious realization that we depend on this labor, it’s hard to argue it’s needed here but not there.
