A Republic, If You Can Keep It

If I’m working a throuple, I’m holding out for Jenna Ortega and Aubrey Plaza. Sort of a good cop/bad cop thing. That’s just me, it’s what I enjoy.

I completely get the attraction, but I’m not sure there’s a good cop in that mix.

I may have to use my imagination. Or live with bad cop/bad cop. Which may be more attractive.

They have three kids together. You are probably thinking of Steve Davis and his partner Nicole, who have a baby together. Steve Davis is leaving too. He’s the real muscle behind all of this.

While looking for the Ortega-Plaza clip, this came up in the search. Too good not to share.

Oh boy my mother in law is spinning in her grave.

I once shared with her that a friend of mine referred to the Episcopal Church as Catholic Lite.

30 minutes later she was finally done explaining how they were totally different.

Cut to Sunday Mass with clergy in a collar, liturgy in Latin, and parishioners kneeling and crossing themselves.

Totally different.

And the appeals court sides with Trump. Tariffs are back on.

How did the appeals court decide that we’re at war?

I work for an Episcopal seminary, although when I started I wasn’t too familiar with the denomination (grew up more Evangelical than Protestant). The way the Episcopal Church was described to me was that it’s all of the Catholic liturgy with none of the guilt. Quite different than the Catholics theologically though.

Is that different than the Austin Presbyterian seminary? I too was brought up on the Evangelical side of Christianity. I know very little about the various protestant churches.

They stayed enforcement of the judgment pending their review of the motions. The weird thing is that it was per curium, which is the entire court and not just a motions judge or panel. The weirdness is simply procedural.

Never mind. I see they are separate though in close proximity. I had dome some work in the Presbyterian Seminary years ago. They have a cool tower.

President Trump said we were at war. Duh.

It’s his War on Ethics.

Huh… it’s almost like Trump wants the government to control the ability of private entities to hire/admit based on where someone is from. I can’t really put my finger on why this is so incredibly hypocritical and pharisaical…

Meritocracy my ass.

We get calls for them all. the. time. Even some of our mutual vendors can’t keep it straight.

When I first got here and expanded my circle of friends and acquaintances, I started getting invited to weddings. Seems like there was one summer which was just wall-to-wall weddings.

Anyhow, I had yet to attend a Catholic wedding, but one was coming up and everyone was bitching about it. When the event finally came, it seemed to me that it was the same as a CoE wedding.

The ones I thought were weird were the non-Catholic weddings where people were body-slamming the bride and groom to get to the buffet.

There was a reason why he rushed to get to this court, rather than try to fast track it to SCOTUS like he tries to do with everything else.

Fun Fact: the initial lawsuits here were filed in regular ol’ federal courts. Trump had it moved to the specialist trade court presumably because, of the three judges on the panel, he appointed one and Reagan another. The decision it rendered against him was unanimous.

Pharisaical
My new best word ever!!!
Thanks!
