They heard oysters are an aphrodisiac, and you know where that leads…that’s right, boys playing girls sports.
Fun Fact: there are more kids with measles in Texas than there are trans athletes in college sports.
I had to look this up. Not just more, but an order of magnitude more.
371 kids as of 4/11/25 with measles in TX.
2 deaths in kids.

Less than 10 trans athletes in NCAA.

I hope someone other than Limey is pointing this out. Or buying billboards.
Trump exempts smartphones, computers and chips from Chinese tariffs, meaning that China now has more tariffs on us than we have on them.

Seems like an opportune moment to ask him to return Garcia on the next available flight.
They’ve got to find him first, or at least want to
Of course, and Trump won’t ask anyway. It just puts the lie to the shrug that they have no way of retrieving him.
In the daily briefing, the government attested to Garcia being alive but somehow irretrievable.
Trump blinks again.
Public service announcement (cause I got an email from one of my pen dealers): everything will be increasing in price, especially the good stuff not made in China. So if you’re in the market for a watch, a fountain pen, knives, wine glasses, cuff links…expect them to increase in price at least 25% on April 28th. So get them now.
I’m good on all those things, but I’ve been spending more than I could on wearable stuff - footwear, shirts, coats, belts, hats, etc - that’s made by smaller shops in the US. One thing I haven’t researched is jeans, I know my Levi’s are from overseas (quality seems to have gone way down in the past years) and my Carharts are made here (love them for work), but do you know of a good brand?
I don’t really wear jeans anymore. I have a couple of pairs of “work pants” that I think are Carhartt, and maybe a pair of Levi’s, but that’s about it. Oh, and a pair of FRC jeans for work, but I don’t know the brand. I wear the Carhartts when I need to work in them, but in general I’ve replaced jeans with khakis, or in the summer, linen trousers.
Hey buddy, tell me about your pants.
I’m just trying to imagine the source of fires in a downtown high rise. Maybe the snack machine shorted out. You cannot assume all outlets are properly grounded, let’s face it.
There are these things called “oil wells”…maybe you’ve heard of them?
We get the alarms going off all the time in the downtown high rise. It’s usually someone burning popcorn or some such in the microwave, interspersed with the occasional bomb threat.
What kind of jeans are you looking for? Work? Dressier? Both?
You can certainly splurge (> $200) on the latter with brands like Imogen + Willie, Raleigh Denim, and a few others.
I own several pairs of Flint & Tinder (Huckberry’s in house brand that’s made here in the USofA). Two are for the winery, one is a bit dressier. Great quality, especially for the modest price ($100). They also just released some denim that is made in Texas. Pretty pricey, though. Will set you back a cool $228.
ETA - when Cone Mills in NC shut down a few years ago, that was a massive gut punch for domestically made denim. A mill in Vidalia (LA) bought a several of the old looms when Cone Mills shut down, but I think they’re producing higher end designer denim, not every day jeans.
