As of now, both Democratic Senate candidates in Wi and Mi are still up, running about 2 points ahead of Harris. Not sure if that is anti-Harris or pro-Trump but I lean to the latter.
I disagree that the Republican Party deserved to win last nightâs election. Their presidential candidate shouldnât have even been allowed on the ballot if we had a properly functioning Supreme Court enforcing the 14th Amendment.
So, Project 2025 was a good enough plan as opposed to what the Dems laid out? Thatâs frightening.
I respectfully disagree with your assertion that they didnât lay a good enough plan.
When a significant portion of our countryâs electorate is in a cult, devoid of logic and reason, and misogyny and racism are still alive well, thatâs a mighty uphill battle, imho.
I do appreciate the spirit of your post, though, Jim.
Thanks for sharing.
I donât see it that way. Trump won, but it wasnât because his policies and ideas were better. Trump was perceived as a better choice, but that doesnât mean he deserved to win.
I can easily argue someone who committed acts of treason against the United States of America following the 2020 election did not deserve to be allowed to run for president, nor be elected.
I agree with you, 70+ million americans do not. He got the votes, therefore he âdeservedâ to win. No matter what you or I think about his merits or lack there of.
âDeservedâ to be allowed to run and âdeservedâ to win, are not the same thing. I agree with the former but canât agree with the latter.
Fort Bend slid back to red as well. Judges up and down the ballot, all Republican. That was the exact opposite in 2020. Our Dem Sheriff retains his job with a 490 vote margin (out of 340K cast). Somethingâs happening. We also had a shady constable race where a Republican vape shop owner spent about $1M (really) to win his race 52/47. For constable!
One of my favorite courses at UT was History of Political Parties taught by Dr. James S. Chase who was a gifted teacher. His overriding thesis was politics and parties in the US are like a pendulum swinging one way and then the other.
As yâall often tell me, I am old. I have seen Dr. Chaseâs thesis occur in my lifetime. I have seen this country go from hard right to hard left and now back to hard right. I may not live long enough to witness the next swing, but many of you will.
Trump may have been the catalyst, but he has been the beneficiary of the countryâs swing back to the right. All of this is imo, of course.
Thatâs certainly possible, but I donât think so. One, I trust this was honest dialogue. Two, there is some proof in the pudding that a female candidate doesnât necessarily draw a higher level of female support, and in fact may turn off a certain portion of female voters. Thatâs been obvious in both of Trumpâs victories.
Looks like, when Nevada in Arizona come in, the final tally will be 309 to 226 with Trump winning every battleground state and Harris losing share in all jurisdictions relative to Biden four years ago. Quite the landslide.
