A Republic, If You Can Keep It

This is not Idiocracy; this is real.

Great. I feel like this is a precursor to them telling us there’s a shortage of burrito coverings.

Wait, when in March? AISD should be able to do better work. Maybe have someone else proof read before publishing.

It’s the new math.

By “administrative error” they mean “denial of due process”.

How many others? How is it legal to disappear anyone to a foreign country?

They acknowledge the “error” but say courts lack the jurisdiction to order this man’s return. Even accepting that at face value - it’s almost certainly utter bollocks - they could just go and get him. Why do they need to be ordered by a court to undo their mistake?

ICYMI, Cory Booker has been filibustering the Senate since 7pm last night. Still going as of time of posting. (8am)

It’s Special Election Day in Wisconsin and Florida. In the latter, two very safe GOP US House seats are up for grabs, at least one of which is scaring the living shit out of them, to the point where it forced Trump to pull Stefanik’s UN Ambassador nomination because they feared losing her safe seat in a special election.

In Wisconsin, a state Supreme Court seat is on the ballot and Edolf has been literally paying voters to vote for the GOP candidate. He is trying to buy the seat the same way he bought the Oval.

Meanwhile, yesterday in Louisiana, voters rejected all four Republican-backed constitutional amendments.

Still going. The dude has stamina, which makes sense considering he went toe-to-toe with Rosario Dawson who (in my dreams) looks like she drains the life force of mere mortal men.

There is a very sharp decrease in capability from an F-35 to a Gripen, regardless of what this internet expert might suggest. No reasonable fighter pilot would willingly turn in it’s keys to an F-35 for a Gripen and no battlespace commander would willingly swap out their wings of F-35’s for wings of Gripens. The Gripen only starts to make some semblance of sense when you add in all of the geopolitical drama that is in play right now.

Absolutely, the Gripon does not have the stealth capabilities of the F-35. But given that the world no longer sees the US as a reliable partner, they will be looking for other options and the Gipon is a serviceable stop gap.

Anyone going toe-to-toe with the US, Russian or Chinese Air Force in full, open combat is going to lose regardless of the equipment they deploy simply due to numbers. So they just need to tool up to the point they offer a serious threat/deterrent in a limited skirmish or with someone not the US, Russia or China. For that, the Gripon is a fantastic option and, as you say, comes without the geopolitical baggage that is always a factor in weapons sales.

The domestic issue is that US defense contractors have a very powerful lobby, in no small part because their manufacturing base is strategically dispersed around the country so that they can exert influence on as many Reps and Senators as possible. In the famous words of Harry Shand: “I put money in all your pockets!” If they are getting contracts cancelled, it’s going to be a hit to a significant number of districts, whose Reps are going to get their chains yanked by defense contractors wanting to know WTF they’re going to do to stop Trump from tanking their international sales.

Those customers switching to the Gripon may not ever come back, especially with Saab having a stealth fighter in development. The same is likely happening with all kinds of weapons systems from missiles to tanks to rifles. The revenue loss in sales, training, parts and service is potentially devastating.

How can someone not like Cory Booker? Even I like Booker and I hate practically all politicians

Marine Le Pen has appealed her fraud conviction for misuse of government funds on a technicality. It’s only embezzlement if it was done in the EmbĂšzzlĂ© region of France, otherwise it’s just sparkling corruption.

China, Jaan, and South Korea have “agreed to work together” in response to Trump’s tariffs, which I’m pretty sure is the first time those three countries have ever agreed with each other on anything.

If the Koreans and Japanese hate Trump more than they hate each other, they really hate Trump.

Gov. Hotwheels is nothing if not consistently a cunt.

He won’t call an election for the open seat in TX18 which happens to be 44% Hispanic and 33% Black. Residents of that district could end up being denied representation for two years. All because the GOP may well lose that seat and with it their slim majority in the House.

This is what that district looks like:

There’s too many actual things to mock him for but the wheelchair isn’t one of them.

It is because of what he did after his accident. He mocked everyone who might sustain the same injuries by pulling up the ladder behind him. He gets no sympathy for anything.

Booker into his 19th hour, btw.

Meanwhile, in the House, Gym Jordan invited Newt Gingrich - yes, Newt Fucking Gingrich - to all about judicial overreach. It’s not been going well, as you would expect.

Maybe if they’d brought him in to discuss marital overreach
