A Republic, If You Can Keep It

Jon Stewart called it out: “You’re picking a fight with Canada? Our most trusted and reliable ally? The labradoodle of allies?”

Things are so bad that we now find out before he fucks around.

Lest we forget, there was a deal in place that prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and Trump tore it up. Now he’s threatening to lay waste to Iran if they don’t sign an agreement not to acquire nuclear weapons.

Same deal with Canada and Mexico trade, where he has been “nuking” trade between the countries because the deal we have with them is “the worst”. A deal that he negotiated and signed after he ripped up NAFTA.

A classic, lazy sequel that just repeats the plot points from the original.

Counties like Canada who are canceling F-35 orders may not be taking much of a downgrade buying not American.

The Russians wowed a Paris airshow with the “Cobra” maneuver - basically the real-life version of Maverick “hitting the breaks” - but the first plane able to do it was the Saab Draken. It took Russia a decade to catch up.

The Draken’s successor - the Viggen - routinely was able to get missile lock on SR-71s; a feat that was previously thought to be impossible.

The Saab fighters are Mach 2 beasts that can take off from a freeway and be turned around - fueled and fully re-armed - by unskilled crew in 10 minutes.

They probably don’t have a kill switch either.
