Winner!
Mine were fruit bats so I knew they werenât going to bite me. They sure did like the banana plants I had in the back yard. I wonder if the new owner tore those out, too.
Sweep sweep sweep sweep
I have a few bat houses scattered around. This is bat country.
You know whatâs even cooler than a three game sweep?
A four game sweep.
And securing HFA in case of a postseason series against KC
And 6 in a row.
I donât know what kind of bat it was, but I donât think we have fruit bats in Texas. Iâm guessing itâs one of those little brown tree bats that are all over SE Texas. I tried to not get a face to face with it.
I have a bat house and an owl house. The owls are pretty cool.
5 in a row. We lost the first 2 in Philly
Oh yeah, walking around outside after dark and having an owl buzz your tower is a weird and cool experience. (whoosh) and then you realize what it was after itâs already passed over you.
Owls kill humans. Keep your head down.
These are just little screech owls. Not much bigger than a mockingbird. Iâm not too worried about them. Now a big-ass barn owl youâve pissed offâŚ
Wut? I saw Owls kill Longhorns once, though.
We have Barred owls AKA Hoot owls around here. They get fairly large and hoot all night. Itâs fun to listen to them hoot back and forth while 50 yards from each other.
You ever talk to them and they hoot back?
Yes and yes.
I was out in the backyard playing with my granddaughter one day, and there was some songbird making a racket (Iâm poor at identifying them). She stood there, cocked her head and listened for a little bit, then waited for a silence and then warbled back something that to my human ears sounded like the bird call. And then the bird responded! So she did it again, and the bird responded again. It was hilarious.
If the bird was French it was probably telling her she was pronouncing it wrong.
