Well, when the Astros acquired him Espada said what the organization liked about him was that he makes contact. And that would definitely set him apart from the likes of Cabbage and Leon and Chas.
I’m still completely astonished that they replace those other slapdicks with a 1 point something career WAR guy, a guy who decidedly belongs in the majors and not very much more than that, and it changes the entire complexion of the team.

Throughout his career he strikes out at about a third of the time. That’s a lot to me. Perhaps Brown thinks differently. But agreed, he’s been just a perfectly average player his whole career, but he’s a huge upgrade for this team.
