8/31/24 KC @ HOU

So far, nine up, nine down. Astros coming to the plate in the second.

Astros strike out in order. No score after two.

First 12 batters - 8 K’s
Kikuchi 3
Ragans 5

Pitches 6 and 8 were swings.

Kikuchi strikes out the side - 6 Strike Outs

11 out of the 15 batters - Cmon Stros!

Kikuchi gives up a one out double, but that’s all. After 2.5, no score.

Dezenzo has no idea what just happened.

And Gamel to that list.

14 out of 18 - 8 for Ragans, 6 for Kikuchi

This is video game level strike outs. Game is going quick

Ragans just pumping strikes in the zone and our guys just keep striking out. No contact except Altuves in the 1st

With one game left in August (Sparks just said this), the Houston Astros ERA for the month is the second lowest in the history of baseball .184 (the other was during the dead ball era - Bosox)

Just starters, I don’t think that included bullpen stats

Listening to the broadcast, so I might have missed (staff vs starters) but that makes sense since Abreu, Hader, and few others have given up some bombs

I could be mistaken, but I thought that’s what I saw on the graphic. Even so, that’s an incredible accomplishment by our pitching.

Edit to clarify:

The stat was actually lowest BAA in a single month (all-time):

So I guess that was team stats - I mixed up because they were saying just before that that the starters ranked 1st in all league leader categories and showed a graphic for that:

No no-hitter tonight fellas

More pitching stats

Thru 4 innings - both pitchers have thrown 46 strikes
Kikuchi - 46/62 8 K’s
Ragans - 46/59 8 K’s

This crew would be so easy to influence - Nice gourmet Italian meal might get the strike zone you want (Chicken Parm, Veal Marsala, and the Manicotti).

HP: Phil Cuzzi. 1B: Tony Randazzo. 2B: Alex Tosi. 3B: Dan Bellino.

No idea why they keep taking 2 strike pitches that start in the zone.

Sparky was saying this is the first time all year a starter has struck 10 or more Astros.

Apparently, the Astros are the third hardest team to strike (Padres & Royals being the top two).

Thru 5 - This pitching duel is gonna cause someone heart break (1 more K from Kikuchi and they’ll both have mowed down good contact hitting teams).
