The fact that somebody who had a successful tv and film career was reduced to auctioning off memorabilia from his shows to pay for cancer treatment is an absolute indictment of the American healthcare system. And he left behind six kids, the oldest of whom is 15, which is so tragic. Cancer sucks.
He left behind a beautiful family. Very sad indeed.
He didnât like the âMovie Starâ life and moved to Texas several years back to raise his family. I liked his self deprecating sense of humor he employed playing an outrageous version of himself as movie star, âJames Van Der Beekâ, in the short lived and under appreciated sitcom series, Donât Trust the B in Apartment C.
Leon Hale, long time columnist for the Houston Post and the Houston Chronicle has died just short of age 100.
A bad contract - he got no residuals from his time on Dawsonâs Creek.
I am not saying health care isnât an issue but he was screwed by having a bad agent/representation.
I always liked his stuff back in the day.
I also saw somewhere that the longtime outdoors show that was on one of the sports radio stations early Sat/Sun mornings is also now gone. Doug Pike and the other, older, balder, guy.
Hale died in 2021.
Goddammit! I got fooled again. Again. I should know better by now.
Fool me⌠We canât get fooled again.
Cross him off, then!
No wonder he hasnât returned my calls.
Pulmonary embolism was the cause
Robert Duvall, 95.
Legend.
âRobert Duvall died.â
My GF, âOhh nooooo!â
âHe was 95 years old.â
My GF, âOh well. OK then!â
Aw man. What a great life. So many great roles. I think his best acting jobs were, The Great Santini and Tender Mercies. So few of that generation left.
I loved Tender Mercies.
Jesse Jackson, 84
Iâll always remember his dramatic reading of âGreen Eggs and Hamâ on SNL
I suspect many of us could measure our personal journeys by our opinions about Jesse Jackson.
