Ahh, fuck. I’ll have yo tip s glass tonight.
What’s your favorite “Bob Weir” Dead song?
I’m gonna need a bit to come up with mine.
eta: just a bit: it’s between Jack Straw, Cassidy, Sugar Magnolia, and a song I can’t think of yet
Bummer!
Sugar Magnolia, man.
That leaves just Bill Kreutzmann as the last surviving member of the Grateful Dead’s original lineup.
Depends on when I’m listening and what kind of mood I’m in, but Me and My Uncle deserves consideration.
Weir wrote that one?
One of my all-time favorites.
It’s also on my top-5 list of songs about murder.
I don’t know if he wrote it. But he sings the hell out of it, so that makes it a Weir sing for me.
I just learned that it was written by John Phillips of “Mamas and Papas” fame
I would have used up a lot of guesses before I landed on that one.
1971 Live
I’ve had Sugar Magnolia playing in my head for weeks now. I don’t know why.
Prior to that it was Buffett’s Havana Daydreaming. But Jimmy’s been dead for a while so I don’t feel any responsibility for him.
CBS using Grateful Dead tunes for their commercial fade-outs in the Bills-Jags game.
I’ve noticed this before on other broadcasts…whoever is in the production truck/studio is obviously a fan. They seem to really like Franklin’s Tower. RIP Bob.
Aw man. That really sucks. I had already made plans in my mind to see The Dead at the Sphere in May (once it would be announced). Fuck. He will be missed.
Phil Lesh wasn’t one of the originals?
I think he has also passed.
Oh fuck. I forgot about that. Mickey Hart is still alive.
Dave Giusti, 86
R.I.P.
Is there a record/list somewhere of Colt 45 players still with us?
Giusti was a barely average starter for the Astros but turned into a real good closer for Pittsburgh. He doesn’t get the proper credit as he helped defined the role of the modern closer.
