I had no idea that qualifying round participants got a medal even if they did not run in the final. That seemsā¦. odd.
No more unusual than the 12th man on a basketball team who didnāt see time in the championship game receiving a medal, in my opinion. Heās still part of the team, and he still made contributions.
I remember them doing that in T-ball 45 years ago
