Wow, great to hear! I really wasn’t expecting a 5 year deal if we signed him.

Story from Astros.com:

Regarding the discussion earlier today about CBT:

According to Chandler Rome,

There are no deferrals, and Hader received a full-no trade clause. The contract has no opt outs or club options, either.

LFG!!!

Hader rejected a QO from the Padres so add a draft pick to the price tag.

"Josh Hader turned down a qualifying offer from the Padres in November.

With him signing with the Astros, this means Houston will lose their 2nd highest pick in 2024 as well as $500K from the international bonus pool in 2025."

I’m totally ok with this.

eta, fyi: tax hit on Crane is 3.5M

Good catch.

Now I’ll have a new Astro connection to use for Milwaukee and San Diego save categories for Immaculate Grid (well, at least I will in April).

Who gets the DFA short straw?

Graveman surgery a blessing in disguise?

What I wonder now, is if Hader signed with the promise that he would be the closer right away or he will be a setup man this season. If he’s the closer, which he probably should be as much as I love Pressly, I wonder if that causes some problems. I would hope that Pressly would accept it graciously and be apart of one of the best bullpens, on paper, ever.
