I agree – Lee needs a turn-around season at AAA. Salazar is a good glove with a known floor and a low ceiling – perfect for that 26th spot that allows Diaz to actually bat.
I don’t know if I’m any closer, just what I see. Backup catcher gets a lot of playing time, and if it’s just “polishing” he needs, that’s defensively and needs to come at this level. Catcher is kind of unique that way.
It has sounded for a while like Lee has more work to do at the plate than behind it.
And he’s got plenty to do behind it.
The whoever said Astros management ignore him. Apparently not.
Brown said Lee needs to play every day.
This may not be roster related AS SUCH, but it pertains to 2023 and I feel it is of urgent importance:
Re Whitley tonight:
I’m just happy he’s a fellow University of Arizona Wildcat/alumnus, and now playing for my most favorite professional beisbol franchise.
Very encouraging.
I initially read that as “retired none of the first 10 batters”.
The re-read was way better.
He gave up 2 hits and a run in the 4th, but the brain trust probably liked what they saw from him.
Agree. Very encouraging. I would think, given all he’s been thru, that last night was quite possibly his biggest on the field test, considering the lineup he was facing. I don’t know about him and his makeup, but given his situation, he should have been feeling all kinds of pressure to perform last night and he did so, with flying colors. Now he just needs to go out there and prove he can get AAA hitters out on a nightly basis.
His makeup is the major part of what derailed his career. I hope he has made huge strides there.
Let’s see that million dollar arm, meat, cause I sure got an idea about that fifty cent head.
Tonight, Corey Julks at DH batting 6th. Hensley at 2nd batting 7th. Meyers back at CF batting 8th. Was kind of expecting McCormick.
Do you prefer McCormick over Myers?
Without question for me
I can’t speak for him, but I think I’m starting to. I’ve long thought Meyers had the bigger upside and would be the better player and I’ve wanted him to play. I’m starting to change my thinking. I don’t think either are starting center fielders in the league, more fourth outfielder types, but I’m starting to want to see Chaz out there now.
