Before the season, I would have thought moving Bregman to SS would have been an option. After only playing 91 games this year, I’m not sure that he could stay healthy playing SS. I don’t think moving his to SS is a good idea either.
Was he going to bat cleanup and hit dingers? If not, ATL wins anyway.
That man has a WS RBI, show some respect
Other than Siri who just doesn’t have enough time to be taken seriously
McCullers is the only vocal and fiery player
Maybe that wakes up the bats, we will never know.
This is hilarious.
Astros need a top of rotation starting pitcher. Maybe that’s Verlander. Maybe a guy like Jon Gray if freed from the Colorado light air. And if Carlos opts out, then a guy like Trevor Story makes sense. It sounds stupid (probably because it is), but I think they need another power bat - though I have hope that an offseason of rest and healthy legs will return Bregman to a 20+ guy.
After reading Correa’s comments before the last game, perhaps we will read Bregman had wrist surgery.
We will never know.
I’d say a solid 1.4% chance that would have happened.
( FTR it wasn’t meant to be serious)
Yes, human beings can find motivation in many ways, and some people make a good living motivating others
However, if the hitters weren’t already motivated then this is a whole different level of disfunction.
Dude, McCullers was in the dugout the entire Series. Was he under a gag order unless he was pitching? Once again, this is professional baseball, not HS football. Players must be confident and play relaxed to do well. Getting “fired up” is counterproductive.
They need a consistent bat more than they need another power bat. Kind of like Altuve used to be.
All I know is that when I rewatched the 2017 WS last week I saw players jumping around all over the place and smiling excitedly - especially George and Correa.
When I watched the 2021 Astros the only player I saw doing that was Siri.
Being in the dugout injured is a little different than being on the field. McCullers could have also struck out Soler, instead of giving up a mammoth gut punching 3 run home run on a hanging off speed pitch. I’m sure McCullers would have been fired up after striking Soler out, which would have fired up his teammates. You never know what the impact could have been had McCullers have been pitching. I think a team has more confidence knowing your ace is on the mound. The Astros just did not have confidence in game 6. I agree with Jim S.
100% agree. They looked flat the whole World Series this year.
It’s easy to get excited and jump around when you’re scoring runs. Conversely, it’s easy to be flat when you aren’t. You hear the same about team chemistry being so important to the success of a team, but is it really? Is it team chemistry that helps create the winning or is it the winning that helps create good team chemistry?
Dodgers would have liked to have Kershaw and Muncy, Braves would have liked to have Acuna and Morton. You can’t wring your hands about your misfortune, you have to go out and play the game.
I think it’s the new personality of this team.
It’s the Killer Bs all over again ( which isn’t necessarily bad)
Without George , Verlander, and now likely Correa the team is getting more and more subdued and introverted
Less and less excitable and extraverted.
Yes and they did remarkably well in my opinion. They just did not have the same fire that they had in ‘17, though.
They weren’t doing that in that latter stages of games 1, 4, and 6 in '17.
The bats went ice cold.
You could’ve had a bench full of Richard Simmons clones and that wouldn’t have fixed it.
