That’s unbelievable.
What a twit.
Also: I have no idea what a “45 defensive shortstop” is.

Fangraphs explanation of 20-80 scouting scale.
It says 45 is “below avg. Platoon or utility level”
45 on the 80 point scale, I would imagine.
20-80. 50 is average, each ten points is effectively a standard deviation from the mean.
Scouts traditionally put ratings on:
Hit (contact)
Power
Speed
Glove
Arm
So maybe Correa is a 55 glove and a 75 arm, and Tucker is a 50 glove but 30 arm
Also when looking at prospects, you may see a current/future rating, like saying that Korey Lee has a 35/50 hit tool - currently well below average for a major leaguer but expect to see it develop to average.
Let’s hope the FA market believes that shit.
I would say Tucker has closer to a 40-45 arm. It’s not terrible, just looks really bad in RF
Correa’s is a solid 150
For extra credit - who knows who invented the 20-80 scale?
Google does.
Google’s a 45 search engine
Dear Astros management,
Prese continue to bring us such shitty defenders as Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa.
I guess if 80 is Ozzie Smith and 20 is me*, then I could maybe see Correa as a 45 but even then.
*I would not be very good at SS in the Majors, or Minors, maybe good vs middle schoolers, definitely could do the job at tee ball level
I give it a 35, I would give it a 30 but it gets 5 points for having its name become synonymous with “do a web search”. It is easier than asking someone to duck-duck-go it. But saying Bing-it is even easier than saying Google-it. On second thought, no credit. it’s a solid 30. I guess that still makes it a GG finalist.
No, it’s not. It wasn’t good enough to win this year. And McCuller’s injury history is troubling.
I think we win this WS with a healthy LMJ.
Is Leon the OFer they are trying to convert to SS? Anybody know how that is going?
Yep. He played SS most of the year, I think. Injured during the year?
Leon did well in AA (.249/.359/.443) and got a mid-summer call-up to AAA. After just a few games, he broke his left little finger and was out 6 weeks. He managed to come back in time for the last 10 games or so, and he’s been playing shortstop in the Arizona Fall League. His AAA and AFL stats suggest that he’ll need more seasoning (AAA: .131/.293/.164; AFL: .174/.283/.196), but that’s not unexpected.
2022 26 man roster if no additions:
Maldonado, Castro
Gurriel
Altuve
Bregman
Pena, Diaz
Brantley
Meyers, Siri, McCormick
Tucker
Alvarez
McCullers
F. Valdez
L. Garcia
Urquidy
Odorizzi
Pressly
Stanek
Maton
Montero
Baez
Javier
Taylor.
1 more pitcher from: Solomon, James, S. Martinez, Ivey, Abreu, Paredes, Scrubb, Bielak, Emanuel
Probably a lot of comings and goings along them.
Excludes free agents?
Yes this is the roster now ( I added Pena because he has to be added to 40 and there is not another starting shortstop)
FTR: I don’t think trying to move Bregman back to short is a good idea
Free agents gone and no signings yet.
By and large, I think this is a roster that wins the AL West, but needs more to be a WS contender
