Yes, but he staggered a bit in the last inning. He held on, but it was dicey. We had to put player numbers on the lineup card, and I did not know about the forgotten jersey before I exchanged cards. I asked the ump what would happen if I used the relief pitcher wearing a different jersey number; he said if Calallen complained, the pitcher would have to come out. We were winning, and I did not want to risk it. I could have put Matt back in under UIL rules, but I would not take him out in the first place if he was pitching ok.
I will just leave this here and walk away
That’s fascinating.
He must be recovered from surgery? Has he worked out for the team, I wonder?
From the accompanying article…
Conforto’s agent Scott Boras previously stated there was a chance that the outfielder could DH for a contending team in September.
He would spend most of the month rehabbing at Sugar Land but still that DH spot would seem awfully, awfully crowded if he were actually to sign.
Is he able to play in Toronto?
Why on earth would we pay Conforto $15M/yr to DH? That just seems absurd.
This year would be prorated and next year would be 15M when he can play the outfield
Maybe they want to replace a certain LH bat at DH for some chunk of Sept.
First thought that crossed my mind.
Again.
ETA: I have no idea if this is legit. I follow this account because I find him funny at swatting trolls from other fan bases.
I had him/her muted because I had found them kind of irritating. I guess I’m unmuting now.
Never made it across the baltic. But visited denmark and relatives.
In fact, went to aarhus, if i have it correct. My grandafther from my mom’s side is one of the houses he was born in. Old historic houses moved to a town.
If he did work out in Houston for the Astros, he must be semi-serious about signing.
I don’t understand how this squares with the language I posted above but this is certainly interesting…
That would mean both Hunter Brown and Yainer Diaz ARE eligible for the postseason.
(And McTaggart just posted an article that talks about Brown possibly being a weapon in the playoffs so that reinforces what Michael posted in his tweet)
ETA:
Actually went back and re-read the injury exception ( 7. An injured post-season eligible player can (with the approval of the MLB Commissioner) be replaced on his club’s Post-Season Eligibility List by a player (regardless of position) who was on an Active List, Reserve List, 60-day Injured List, or Military List of a minor league affiliate from that organization prior to midnight (Eastern) on August 31st…). I read it narrowly the first time but as I read it now it would allow any minor leaguer to be added to your postseason roster no matter their 40-man status on Aug. 31. The qualification being you have to have an injured player(s) who would otherwise be eligible for the postseason. Given the Astros have that in Michael Brantley, Jason Castro, et al that’s not a problem obviously.
So a revised list of eligible postseason players:
(1) Any player on the 40-man roster on Aug. 31
(2) Hunter Brown
(3) Yainer Diaz
(4) Any other friggin’ player in the Astros’ minor league system on Aug. 31
Now I know why I had them on mute.
That Boras tweet is vague.
That Boras tweet is vague.
We’re now an hour past the deadline. The Astros official transactions page reports nada.
That ain’t vague and it ain’t happening.
