On one of the other sites I follow, some guy just said that Bagwell wasn’t as good as Yordan.
" not even in the same ballpark"
I love Yordan and hope someday we can legitimately make that debate.

Smacks of Astros Daily.
Did I ever mention that the dude who now runs AD, that kook Bob, used to post in here back in the old days, did I ever mention that of all things he moved to Panama? Well, he did. And I met him.
Opposites attract?
Was he as nutty in person?
Well, it’s funny, a guy we both know suggested we film a sort of Odd Couple reality show.
He lives in Boquete which is out west in the mountains and nowhere near a terrible place to live if you’re a dude who likes nice weather and wants to live on the cheap. I thought about maybe buying a place up there many times. I wouldn’t want to live there full time I don’t think, certainly not now with a kid, but it would not suck to have a getaway up there.
He asked that I pick him up from the airport when he arrived so I did. For his initial visit he’d for some reason flown into San Jose, Costa Rica and taken the bus to Panama and got injured on the bus somehow. I took my airplane enthusiast son to get Bob and once it became clear that he and I weren’t going to fly anywhere ourselves Daniel promptly went apeshit.
This was right when I was moving from the city back out to the beach and I was contracting movers and all that shit and this fukkin guy shows up with all his remaining possessions in a large suitcase and a small carry on. I couldn’t believe it.
We kept in friendly touch for a while until he messaged me with Thanksgiving greeting one year and suddenly veered off into Biden is a Chinese puppet territory and I was like Ok that’s enough.
Nutty. I don’t know, man, if you didn’t already know that he gets his information via shortwave you might think he’s just a bit eccentric. He was nice enough, and I went out of my way to help him in advance of his move (which I would be happy to do for most anyone) and I sincerely hope Panama gives him what he wants and needs, but, you know, he and I aren’t exactly cut from the same cloth.
Wins the GG this year after being a finalist at the position the last two years?
I had a very vivid and strange dream last night.
I know it’s a DREAM
Dusty moved Alex to 7th in the order ( I don’t recall the rest of the order) and then he hit for the cycle.
I don’t recall ever having a dream about the Astros.
I thought it would be a very cool discussion if it happens so thought I would post it for posterity
If it were up to me…today…right now…I’d have:
Altuve
Brantley
Alvarez
Tucker
Gurriel
Bregman
Pena
CF
C
After listening to y’all for a while now, I’ve started to look for “popup machine” Bregman. And saw it in 2 of his 5 AB’s yesterday. You all are more adept at breaking down swing mechanics to me. His upper body seems to be primed to make a level swing but the bat head seems to be moving on a slight downward trajectory. So, he’s sort of like “chopping” at the ball and getting under it + producing backspin. What do you all see?
Officially official.
If I was working with a HS hitter with a stance like his, I would say “Get your elbow down.”
I was looking at the numbers and came across a result I was not expecting.
Alex Bregman actually has the 4th highest OPS on the team ( behind Alvarez, Altuve, and Tucker) vs RHP at .801
Among non- catchers, only Siri is lower against LHP at .582.
Pena actually leads the team in OPS vs LHP and Diaz is 2nd behind him.
Maybe it’s time to move Pena up in the order and sit Bregman a bit more often and play Diaz vs LH starters.
I was surprised that, other than Gurriel hitting 5th, the typical lineup vs RH starters isn’t as bad as I thought.
Gurriel has been bad against both LH and RH pitchers.
Diaz is crushing lefties. Maybe play Diaz everyday, or most days, vs lefties and alternate sitting Gurriel and Bregman
Given where he hits, Bregman should have the highest OPS period (or damn close to it), not the 6th highest. And his OPS when “close and late” is sub .600, roughly half of Alvarez’s. Whomever is hitting third has to be a run producer when it matters. Bregman ain’t getting it done.
He’s batting .222 with 6 homers.
Paltry.
He walks a ton. That’s valuable! Just not in the third spot.
Also, if Yuli keeps hitting behind Yordan, then Yordan may not see another pitch to hit.
I would love to see this, and I don’t think Bergman’s ego is so fragile he couldn’t handle the demotion. Correa was moved around. Yuli as well. Perhaps a new perspective in the batting order would help Alex??
I don’t see Dusty hitting 3 LH hitters in a row but I don’t mind that.
I would go:
Vs RH
Altuve
Bregman
Alvarez
Tucker
Pena
Gurriel
Brantley
CF
C
Vs LH
Altuve
Pena
Alvarez
Tucker
McCormick-LF
Bregman/ Diaz
Gurriel/ Diaz
Meyers/Siri
C
I would sit Bregman and Gurriel each about 20-25% of the time vs LH. They are just hitting so badly and Diaz so well.
