2022 roster

Not really a Hallmark ending, is it?

Is there any chance this thread gets rescued from the B&Q zone and returned to roster discussion?

Feel free to get us back on track, officer.

I don’t think anybody wants to talk about baseball after last night’s game.

I had a friend suggest J D. Martinez as a trade target.

If he Brantley and Yordan could rotate at DH/LF it could really improve the lineup.

I could even see Brantley in RF and Tuck in CF a few times per month especially if Framber starts.

I don’t understand how rotating out one of these guys every day helps.

And a Yordan-Tucker-Brantley defensive alignment would make every pitcher cry.

So one of Brantley, Alvarez or Martinez would have to sit every day. And that’s useful exactly how?

Brantley and Yordan have done their jobs for the most part. Yuli and Bregman being very inconsistent so far this season is an issue.

If the Astros want to upgrade the offense, centerfield is the realistic choice.

I feel like we’re all sleeping on the fact that Altuve is hitting like 2017 Altuve.

I agree that Yuli and Bregman have been the most disappointing and that Brantley has MOSTLY been fine.

However he is 35 and should not play everyday if he is going to be fresh for the playoffs.

Dusty is going to rest players. Having J.D. Martinez is better than current options.

Brantley has hit .227 with .602 OPS and 8Ks in 44 ABs vs LH pitching.

He has become an all star level platoon player.

I would sit Brantley 90% of the time vs LH starters if Martinez was on the roster.

It would also have the benefit of having Brantley on the bench to PH vs tough RH relievers

Thank you for injecting some logic in this.

For those rare NL games we could have a couple of PHs that are really good.

You will see that Brantley and Yuli’s numbers at the end of the year are close to what we have come to expect. We’ve played less than 1/2 a season and with little Spring Training ABs. If I’m wrong, don’t hesitate to come after me.

Those NL games with the universal DH?

2021 Brantley hit .217 with .575 OPS vs LH

2020: .231 and .638

Brantley is a great player and presence on this team.

But the team would be better if his at bats vs LH pitching were limited.

Yeah, he’s hit really well since being activated from the IL.

Ok, then. Thanks for the info.

Who exactly would be going to Boston in such a trade? I doubt that the Boston front office is dim enough to take a Siri-for-Martinez trade straight up, and I don’t think our minors are overflowing with major league-ready talent.

Martinez is a free agent this offseason.

I’m sure Boston would charge Houston a bit more than a NL team but he shouldn’t be too expensive.

Maybe Siri and 2 of our 6-25 level prospects. Tamarez and Brewer maybe?

Don’t bother applying for any open GM slots.
