2022 roster

Makes sense to move him for a low level guy. Guess they needed to clear a spot for JV.

Myles Straw 2.0? Cerny was drafted on the tenth round last year our of Troy. CF whose fast and has a strong arm.

Not a bad return.

It sounds like he’s more similar to a young Jose Siri.

Hey, I’m pretty sure Straw hit a couple of doubles once.

FWIW…

If you’re in the market for elite shortstops just pay Correa what he wants

Nothing would break the hearts of other teams more.

Has anyone else made an offer?

As frustrating as it is there is no reason to negotiate against themselves.

If no team is willing to pay what he wants. Carlos won’t get it.

I think it’s just a matter of waiting for a new CBA. Nobody is going to make a big investment until they know what the new landscape looks like.

I guess the implication is they’ll move on to Seager or Story or Semien if Correa’s number doesn’t come down. But it’d be a bold move to sign one of those guys with Correa still on the market.

Who knows what Houston has offered Correa so far. We certainly didn’t know that they were going to offer Verlander 2/$50mm until it was official. They could just be blowing smoke with the 5/$160mm that was made public.

Judges, does making your marketing slogan “fuck you, fans!” count as a “bold move”?

The issue with Correa is the number of years. Crane had a decent idea what it would take to sign Correa when he decided to prioritize keeping him over Springer. A five or six-year offer was never going to work, unless the AAV was something like $40M, and that’s absurd.

One of these contradicts the other. Gambling on him taking 5/125 was like hitting on 19 because “you have a hunch”

Just go to 7 or 8 years at the previously mentioned 35M AAV and get the deal done. Correa turns 34 at the end of the seventh season (September 22).

Of course. That’s why I don’t understand why the 5 year, 160M offer was ever leaked. And the Spring Training offers were baffling, though I get the organization wanting Correa to prove he can stay healthy for a full season.
