2022 roster

Graveman just coming off TJ so I’d be ok committing to him. Really hope they try and bring him back.

Not sure where else to put this, but since Yuli is on the 2022 roster. Here’s something for the feels.

Oakland is in another tear down phase and are reportedly open to trading SP Sean Manea and Chris Bassit. Are these pitchers worth pursuing?

Sure.

Always depends what the asking price is.

Besides I think it’s our turn to get Lowrie back.

Maybe they’ll work out a package deal.

Unless Meyers is expected to miss more than the first couple of months of the season, I don’t understand this.

I feel like CF is a strength not a weakness with the 3 young guys and Leon and a couple other prospects who can play CF.

If he is signed, though I think it will be even more important to trade McCormick and/or Siri. There is just already such a roster crunch and the IL can’t be used in the off season

Long term LF will need to be filled.

But yes, if they signed Marte then one or more of Jake/Chas/Siri would likely be on the block.

I actually think Tucker could (should) end up in left.

If the young players continue to develop as hoped, then I see the 2023 OF:

LF Tucker, CF Meyers, and RF Leon

Tucker can play some RF when Alvarez is in LF.

McCormick or Siri is the 4th OF, the other should be traded

CF isn’t necessarily a weakness but it’s far from a strength. Both Chas and Myers had a 107 OPS+ which is fine but far from a strength. Siri is a at best a 4th outfielder to me. If you can get Marte cheaply, years wise, then you do it. Marte is a decent defender and would help soften the blow of potentially losing Correa at the dish

The Phillies are looking for LF, CF bats and improved infield defense.

IF ( I know huge chasm of an if) Correa resigns then I would hope Click could use McCormick or Siri and Jeremy Pena to land Zach Wheeler.

That should make the Astros a big WS favorite.

I’ve been assuming at least one of the CF trio will get traded to whoever offers the next Maton in return. Signing Marte (which I’d love) would open the door to even more deals like that. But Marte will be in high demand, and they may just have been kicking the tires on him.

I think that 107 OPS+both McCormick and Meyers was GREAT.

They were both rookies and had inconsistent playing time.

I see Chas as a very very good 4th OF, but he needs to make some adjustments at the plate. He already has excellent defense at all 3 positions, speed, and power ( as long as he makes contact)

I see both Meyers and Siri as potential starting CF.

I hope Meyers injury doesn’t keep him out too much of the season or effect his throwing but I see him as a better than average starter if not an all star.

Siri has the talent to be a star but is a bit further away. He needs to make more contact and I worry that his aggression could result in injury any moment, but he is fun to watch.

One thing is sure - I don’t see a spot for all 3 of them on the roster. If at least one is not traded, it will cause more problems.

I imagine the rotator cuff injury to Meyers is factoring into their thinking, along with lineup insurance in the event that Correa is moved.

Joel Sherman suggests a 3-4 year deal at a $18-20MM AAV is what it will take to sign Marte.

3 days until eligible minor leaguers need to be put on 40 man, to protect them from the rule 5 draft.

Even if the CBA or lack there of forces changes, that deadline remains because it’s before 12/1.

I’m expecting some Brandon Bailey for Ramon Laureano kind of trades.

The optimism is overflowing here.

I listened to an interview with Click who said that he is happy with the rotation and wants to move Javier back so the 6 guys they have ( plus possibility of Verlander) are who he expects to have in 2022.
He says he wants to rebuild the bullpen (after losing Graveman, Y.Garcia, and Raley) but not rotation.

I still think replacing 1 or 2 of those starters with a dependable #1 or #2 is the way to go.

I think he has done great so far, and the bullpen needs additions (I would be happy with just resigning Graveman and giving some young guys a chance at the back end) but I hope this is just GM speak and he is actually looking for a starter.

Whether it is Verlander or someone else, he had better go get a starter. Losing Greinke will hurt. At one point in August, he was 11-3 with a 3.40 era. He made 29 starts for the team. While he was not what he once was, he was an effective pitcher a big part of the season and that will be missed. He clearly wasn’t the same when he returned in September when he had been out due to Covid. It was pretty glaring in the WS that this team needs a top of the rotation starter.

Don’t forget McCullers.

For 162 game season the rotation needs lots of depth.

Then it’s a crap shoot whether the best starters are healthy for the post season.

I wish they had never signed Odorizzi, but based on what I just said they needed to when Framber got hurt.

I think the team is just VERY much better if Framber Valdez, Luis Garcia and Jose Urquidy are the #3, #4 and #5 guys instead of #2, #3 and #4.

Gonna drop this repeat also.
