McCormick and Meyers are the same player. Remains to been seen if Jake is better.
And I don’t think Meyers is as good as Siri on defense.
I just looked at it - FanGraphs has the Astros as 10th in center field WAR, but only 21st in wRC+ (their primary offensive WAR component); they are far and away the tops in defensive WAR for CF.
Where is Kiermaier in that ranking? And Buxton, for that matter?
Buxton 8th, Kiermaier 18th (due to playing time). Our friend Myles Straw is the easy leader, followed by Siri.
I have to disagree. Jake is a much better fielder (though not as good as Siri) and he seems to have been a much more consistent hitter in the minors.
Comparing ability is not what I mean by “same player,” and I do not yet know who I think is better after Myers’ injury.
I would love to hear you elaborate on what you did mean by “same player” – sorry I misinterpreted the comment.
Throw left, bat right, good speed, good defense, some power, strike out too much, line drive hitter
I actually forgot Bielak was on the roster
He has pitched twice recently, I think, and was ok. I hope Paredes does well this time. He has another electric arm.
Yeah, I read that…so much for the Cole-Verlander matchup I thought I was going to see Thursday. I read that Yankees were also considering shuffling their rotation as well.
If he can throw enough strikes consistently, he is another Montero, imo.
You called Montero not long after the trade last season. Too bad he got injured. Could have used him in the playoffs.
The bullpen was perfectly spectacular in the Postseason last year. They lost the World Series because Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez went 4 for 41 with 0 Hr, 2 RBI and 13 strike outs.
You beat me to this point. I did not know the stats, but I know the offense disappeared.
The offense wasn’t great overall, but when those guys went completely absent, they had no chance.
