BG Charles McGee at 102.
Tuskeegee Airman. Flew 409 combat missions in WW II, Korea and Viet Nam - third most in US aviation history.
Pretty amazing he was still flying combat missions in his 50’s.
50 is getting younger every year.
I was tellng my wife today that WWII is forever cemented in my mind as “a relatively recent event.” But we’re less than 20 years from the 100-year anniversary of its start.
The attack at Pearl Harbor happened 80 years after the start of the Civil War.
Last Dec 7th was the 80th anniversary.
In 5 years, it will be the 50th anniversary of the release of Star Wars.
I need to take a nap.
9/11 is closer to the Carter Presidency than to present day

You suck.
5 years and 4 months. The months matter cause I will turn 60 that same month.
It just depends on your notion of recency. I find the reading of deep, geologic history to be an excellent corrective.
On a geologic time scale we’re already dead.
Maybe even on the 80-years-from-now scale.
Fuuuck you, man.
We’ll always have 1/6.
Right, and we were already for about 13 billion years. So what’s the big deal?
Ron Franklin, Oilers and national TV announcer, dead at 79
I compliment everyone on not replying “no… that’s not true… that’s impossible!”
RIP, Ron Franklin. He and Stone, the “Two Rons” were institutions in Houston when I grew up.
