2022 Dead Pool

Still don’t know if the people making that were serious, or if they had their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks.

I was 12 or so, didn’t matter to me back then

I had forgotten about Henry and June. Odd that Ward excelled in movies for 12 year old kids.

Composer Vangelis, 79 yo.

Might have to watch Chariots of Fire.

Sumbitch. Chariots of Fire, Bladerunner, Opera Sauvage, and 1492: Conquest of Paradise are amazing albums.

Bladerunner is so quintessential Vangelis.

Still remember Dad taking us to see Chariots of Fire in Houston on a rainy, humid summer day.

I think Panel Truck Envy would be a great band name for a Vangelis tribute band. Or maybe just Van Jealous.

Roger Angell, 101. Nothing I could say in memory would do him justice, I will not even try.

Damn indeed. Remember seeing him for the first time in Something Wild. Liked his work then and thereafter.

This week has sucked the sweat off a dead man’s balls.

Great tribute by Cosner to Ray Liotta, remembering the batting practice scene w/ Shoeless Joe:

"Man, I did love this game…

Was Liotta’s portrayal of Shoeless Joe accurate, Snuff? If not, how was it wrong?

I doubt that Shoeless Joe had a Brooklyn accent.

ETA: It was still a great movie, and historical accuracy sometimes isn’t the point.

It is my favorite movie. Do not talk down to me, Mr. high-powered lawyer/fisherman.

Shoeless J was a LH hitter
Liotta hit RH

Not talking about speaking or accents or do I notice that much in movies.

The point about hitting was mentioned by those who wrote about the movie during its first run.

I read an article about Liotta that said a baseball reporter called him out saying Shoeless Joe didn’t bat RH and Ray said, “Well, he didn’t come back as a ghost either.”
