2022 ALDS Game 1

We both forgot Altuve’s homer off Chapman in Game Six 2019.

I haven’t been able to meet up with my dad for various reasons since he turned 80 in July, so I decided to try and come down and see an Astros playoff game with him. Was there yesterday and what an amazing one for us to go to! Go Astros!

With a win probability added of +105.2% – and more on how that is possible in a second – it’s now the number one most impactful game in postseason history. You could say no hitter ever did more to help his team win, and you wouldn’t be wrong.

+105% – Alvarez, ALDS Game 1, 2022
+96% – David Freese, WS Game 6, 2011
+87% – Gibson, WS Game 1, 1988
+85% – Steve Garvey, NLCS Game 4, 1984

You could make a case that it’s worth 200%

Let me make my case.
If Yordan makes an out the Mariners win 100% of the time.
If Yordan hits a homer, the Astros win 100% of the time
100% + 100% = 200%
Now, I’m not a mathematician, but I think this checks out

It makes perfect sense - a 100% swing away from Seattle plus a 100% swing toward the Astros equals 200%.
(I don’t think it works that way.)

No, because it’s 100 times 100, which is 1000.

The video of Ford’s call with him jumping up and down in the booth is my all time favorite.

5 Jr High kids in their first mosh pit

I was going to say it looked like a mosh pit at a poorly attended punk show in 1983 or so.

But 100% == 1, and 1 X 1 == 1

60% of the time, he wins every time.

How fucking awesome is Yordan?
