2021 Top Prospects Lists

Peter Solomon (9 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 14 K) made this week’s BA Hot Sheet…

I honestly forgot he was still in the organization

I don’t think you are the only one.

Same.

Was activated a couple of days ago. Pair of singles in his first couple of games for the Peckers.

So Meyers is most intriguing because he’s generally considered the best defensive outfielder in the organization. But if the bat is finally developing then he becomes a heckuva lot more interesting and at first glance there seems to be some evidence that’s happening. He went off for 3 homers last night in El Paso and now has 12 for the year. His OPS stands at 1.001 which puts him 11th in the PCL (sorry…make that the fucking AAA West). And he’s gone from a not exactly shitty .954 OPS in May to a 1.060 OPS thus far in June. Not bad for a guy with a career OPS of .733 entering the season and whose season high in home runs previously was 9 in 111 games in 2019 that was mostly spent at hi-A.

But the PC…uh…AAA West is known for certain ballparks that inflate offensive numbers. And Meyers’ OPS on the road is nearly double that of his home OPS–just .648 at Constellation Field while a whopping 1.270 when the Skeeters play elsewhere. 11 of his 12 dingers have come on the road and 9 of those have come at Albuquerque and El Paso (both offensive ballparks). So offensive breakthrough for a guy who went 0-14 with 9 Ks in spring training this year with the Astros? Premature at best to argue that.

After going .444/.545/1.222 for the week, certainly no surprise that Korey Lee is #1 on today’s Hot Sheet…

Article also notes that Lee is throwing out 43% (10 of 23) of base-stealers this season.

Any reports on his defensive ability at the other positions he’s flirted with?

None that I’ve seen.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t he the first Astro on the Hot List this season?

Peter Solomon turned up on the June 1st edition.

At #29 and #30 respectively…

And it gets worse…

And if you’ve lost count that would be TJS #2 for him. He missed all of 2019 due to the first one.

By my count, at least 7 pitchers on the various Top 30 Prospect lists are either gone for the season or have missed at least a month (and counting): Forrest Whitley, Tyler Ivey, Shawn Dubin, Austin Hansen, Jairo Solis, Blair Henley and Torres.

I’m beginning to think Whitley is Bigfoot. There are rumors of his sighting but I think it is all a hoax.

Note: Endersby and Meyers showed up in the “More Prospects to Know” section of the BA Prospect Handbook in the 31-40 range. Solomon was at #29 in the Handbook but fell off the Top 30 just before the season when BA added post-publication additions to the org in Leon and Rivera.

Without looking up scouting grades it looks like first half performance really improved the look of this top 30.

Surprised Ivey is still there
